Oatley RSL Sub-Branch Wellbeing Support Officer

Mr Max Britton

 

Mr. Max Britton, a retired Army Major, has devoted his post-military career to supporting the wellbeing of veterans and their families as the Wellbeing Support Officer at the Oatley RSL Sub-Branch. With a rich background in the armed forces, Max possesses a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by veterans, ensuring his dedication to their welfare is both personal and professional.

Max has equipped himself with formal training as an RSL Wellbeing Support Officer (WSO), further enhancing his ability to assist those in need. He is also trained in Mental Health First Aid and has completed ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training), allowing him to offer critical support in mental health crises.

His passion for veteran advocacy is evident in his commitment to providing guidance, resources, and emotional support. Max works tirelessly to foster a sense of community among local veterans, ensuring they feel valued and connected. Through his efforts, he continues to make a positive impact on the lives of many, embodying the spirit of service long after his military career.

Max Britton's dedication to the veteran community and his proactive approach to wellbeing exemplify the qualities of a true leader and advocate.

Page Services Under Construction

 The Oatley RSL Sub-Branch Wellbeing & Support page is currently UNDER CONSTRUCTION, as we remain committed to supporting local veterans and their families. In addition to our dedicated Wellbeing Support Officer, we are excited to announce that the Oatley RSL Sub-Branch will be introducing a number of free health and wellbeing services in 2025 for local veterans and their families—stay tuned for more updates! 

Oatley Sub-Branch Wellbeing Support Officer

The Oatley RSL Sub-Branch is proud to have a formally trained and competent Wellbeing Support Officer (WSO), approved by RSL NSW. Our WSO has completed extensive training, including Mental Health First Aid (Community), First Aid, and the Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) course, equipping them with the skills necessary to effectively support our veteran community.

The WSO is dedicated to providing support services to local veterans and their direct family members. If you or your family members require assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out. Your wellbeing is important to us, and we are here to support you.

Homelessness support

 

DVA can support you if you are homeless or risk becoming homeless. We will:

  • connect you with homelessness services in your local area
  • check you are receiving relevant DVA support
  • provide you with personal case management if it’s needed.

You can call us on 1800 VETERAN (1800 838 372) between 8 am and 5 pm, Monday to Friday.

In some circumstances, Open Arms may be able to help with short term emergency accommodation.

Crisis Payment


If you want to find out about the DVA Crisis Payment, or other DVA payments you may be eligible for at this time, you can call us on 1800 VETERAN (1800 838 372) between 8 am and 5 pm, Monday to Friday.


Free mental health care


If you need it, you can access free mental health care if you have served a single day in the ADF. This can be accessed through your White Card and through Open Arms – Veterans & Families Counselling. They will help you to work through any immediate issues related to your crisis. They can also connect you with other mental health services and support you may need.

You can call 1800 011 046 to talk to an Open Arms counsellor 24/7.


DVA domestic and family violence support


Family and domestic violence is never acceptable. This DVA page explains what family and domestic violence and abusive behaviour looks like. It also gives information on where to find support if you need it.
